Abstract:

A honeycomb structure body where, in recovery processing, cracks caused by thermal stress concentration can be prevented from occurring in a sealing material for sealing entrance side through-holes or in the vicinity of the sealing material. The honeycomb structure body is a column-like honeycomb structure body formed from porous ceramics, having through-holes arranged in the length direction with partition walls in between. The through-holes are composed of entrance side through-holes and exist side through-holes. The end sections on the exit side are sealed with sealing material such that the total area of cross-sections perpendicular to the length direction becomes relatively larger. Also, the end sections on the entrance side are sealed with the sealing material such that the total area of cross-sections perpendicular to the length direction becomes relatively smaller. Expressions of 0.0157X-0.06782 that is the area oftheexit side end surface including the exit side through-holes.
