Abstract:

The technical problem of the present invention is to provide a hollow drive shaft of which the strength of the entire length is rendered uniform as much as possible, by distributing a load concentrated on a vulnerable area generated by the difference in the thickness and the outer circumference of a cross section. To this end, the hollow drive shaft according to the present invention comprises: at least one small circumference part having a hollow shape; and a big circumference part, which is provided adjacent to the small circumference part, and which has a hollow shape of which the outer circumference is bigger relative to the small circumference part, wherein the thickness of the cross section of the big circumference part is smaller than the thickness of the cross section of the small circumference part, and wherein a first cross-sectional section, which extends from the outer surface of the big circumference part to 35 to 60% of the thickness of the cross section of the big circumference part, is carburized to have a hardness of at least HRC 55.
