Abstract:

The purpose of the present invention is to provide: a high-strength steel having improved strength and toughness and also having high fatigue strength; and a crankshaft produced using the high-strength steel. The high-strength steel according to the present invention contains 0.30 to 0.50 mass% inclusive of C, more than 0 mass% and 0.15 mass% or less of Si, 0.80 to 1.5 mass% inclusive of Mn, 0.8 to 2.4 mass% inclusive of Ni, 1.0 to 3.0 mass% inclusive of Cr, 0.35 to 0.70 mass% inclusive of Mo, 0.10 to 0.25 mass% inclusive of V, 0.001 to 0.040 mass% inclusive of Al, and a remainder made up by iron and unavoidable impurities, and is mainly composed of martensite, wherein the concentration of Mn in cementite is 0.90 to 1.80 mass% inclusive and the ratio of the content of Mn to the content of Si is 5.50 or more.
