Abstract:
A half-divided outer race (11a) has a projected portion (14) at the axially as well as circumferentially middle thereof to be used for positioning the outer race (11a) with respect to a housing member. Abutting portions (16a,16b) that come into abutment to similar abutting portions when a pair of the outer races are fitted to a rotary shaft to be supported by a roller bearing have a projecting profile (17a) and a concave profile (17b) capable of, in combination thereof, restricting axial movement of a pair of the half-divided outer races. The projecting profile (17a) and the concave profile (17b) are symmetric to each other with respect to the center (20) of the projected portion (14).
