Disclosed in the present application is a hair straightener, comprising a hair straightener body and a protective part. The hair straightener body is provided with two heating plates arranged oppositely, the hair straightener body having an open state, in which the two heating plates are separated from each other, and a closed state, in which the two heating plates are adjacent to each other. The hair straightener is also provided with a rechargeable battery, heating assemblies, an electric control apparatus and a control switch, the heating assemblies, the rechargeable battery and the control switch all being electrically connected to the electric control apparatus, and the heating assemblies being installed on inner sides of the heating plates. The protective part is provided with a trigger structure, and the protective part detachably sleeves the hair straightener body. When the protective part sleeves the hair straightener body, the trigger structure fits with the control switch. The control switch is configured to break a control circuit of the heating assemblies when the trigger structure fits with the control switch. The technical solution of the present application can prevent the situation in which when being carried, the hair straightener is started by a touch by mistake.
