Abstract:

This gear stage switching device is provided with a gear stage selection unit which selects a starting gear stage, and a switching unit which, if the weight of the vehicle is less than a threshold weight, switches the setting range of the starting gear stage to a second range which has more gear stages than the first range, wherein, if the set range has been switched by the switching unit, the gear stage selection unit selects an optimal starting gear stage from the second range.
