Abstract:
In this gas generator, differences in output due to differences in environment temperature are reduced. This gas generator comprises: an ignition device that is attached to one end side of a housing; a combustion chamber that is formed in an interior section of the housing and accomodates a gas generating agent; a cup-shaped diffuser part that is formed at the other end side of the housing and has a plurality of gas discharge holes; a filter that is at least partially accommodated in an interior section of the diffuser part, and has a hollow flow passage in the interior thereof, said flow passage being from an open end side of the diffuser part toward a closed end side of the same and including a first section, one end of which is connected to the combustion chamber, and a second section connected to the other end of the first section; and a shutoff part that creates a state of blockage between the first section and the second section when the combustion pressure of the gas generating agent during operation is less than a prescribed critical threshold value, and creates a state of communication between the first section and the second section when the combustion pressure is greater than or equal to the critical threshold value.
