Abstract:
The present invention provides a fuel pump which can inhibit a seal member attached to a plunger from being deformed or damaged. This fuel pump comprises: a plunger; a cylinder which guides the reciprocal motion of the plunger; a seal member which is disposed in an annular groove formed in the outer circumferential surface of the plunger and which comes into contact with the inner circumferential surface of the cylinder; and a pump body which has a compressing chamber, the capacity of which increases or decreases in response to the reciprocal motion of the plunger. The bottom surface of the annular groove is provided with a pressing part that presses the seal member. In an area between the annular groove and the seal member on the compressing chamber side relative to the pressing member, a gap that allows fuel to infiltrate from the compressing chamber side is formed.
