Abstract:
A fuel consumption reduction apparatus using variable pre-load of a vehicle bearing according to the present invention comprises: a housing for supporting a driving shaft of a vehicle; a bearing installed in the housing to rotatably support the driving shaft; and a variable pre-load unit installed in the housing or on a side adjacent thereto to apply a pre-load to an outer ring or an inner ring of the bearing. The fuel consumption reduction apparatus using variable pre-load can reduce a driving load applied to the driving shaft by a fixed pre-load applied by the bearing, thereby reducing a driving load of an engine and thus reducing fuel consumption.
