Abstract:
Provided is a friction member (such as a disc brake pad), the weight of which is reduced by weight reduction of a back plate (1) and the durability of which after repeated braking is improved. A specific example of the friction member includes an friction material (2) disposed on one surface (11) of a back plate that includes a material having a smaller specific gravity than steel, wherein the thermal conductivity in the thickness direction of the friction material (2) is 0.4 W/m･K or less.
