Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing a friction material which is obtained by molding a friction material composition that is a NAO material used in a disk brake pad, and which exhibits an excellent braking effect in a high-speed high-temperature region and has excellent abrasion resistance. In order to solve this problem, used is a friction material which is obtained by molding a friction material composition that is a NAO material which is used in a disk brake pad, contains a binder, a fiber substrate, an inorganic friction modifier and an organic friction modifier and which does not contain a copper component. In the friction material composition, spherical amorphous alumina particles having an average particle diameter of 100-300 µm are contained as the inorganic friction modifier at a quantity of 0.5-6 wt% relative to the overall quantity of the friction material composition. In addition, fluorine-based polymer particles are used as the organic friction modifier at a quantity of 0.5-5 wt% relative to the overall quantity of the friction material composition.
