The friction material according to an embodiment of the invention has a copper content of 0.5 wt% or less, and comprises 10-20 wt% inorganic material having cleavability, a first abrasive material, which has a Mohs hardness of 6.5 or higher but less than 7, and 0.2-3 wt% second abrasive material, which has a Mohs hardness of 7-8.
