Abstract:
Provided are: a friction material composition not containing copper, which has a high environmental burden, or having a copper content of 0.5% by mass or less, and which has low rust adhesive force and is not prone to cause rust peeling; a friction material; and a friction member. A friction material composition including a binder, an organic filler, an inorganic filler, and a fiber base material, elemental copper not being included in the friction material composition or the copper content of the friction material composition being 0.5% by mass or less, and the friction material composition containing fibrillated aramid fibers as the fiber base material, 0.2-2% by mass of sodium carbonate, and 2.5-10% by mass of calcium hydroxide.
