A four-line marine riser coupler consists of two portions, a male coupler (1) and a female coupler (2). The male coupler comprises an external tapering thread (23), a small end surface (17), a main shoulder (20), and four recesses (8) adjacent to the main shoulder and uniformly distributed for placing a fastening block. The female coupler comprises an internal tapering thread (24), a large end surface (19), a secondary shoulder (18), a sealing recess (5), and a stress relief recess (3). A thread bearing surface uses a negative bearing angle. A thread guide surface is formed by transitioning between two line segments. The external tapering thread and the internal tapering thread are used in cooperation, and are both large-taper threads having a taper of 1:3. The internal tapering thread has a constant height. The external tapering thread has a constant height at a middle portion, and has a variable height at two end portions. The four-line marine riser coupler has advantages of fast engagement, good retention of a thread compound between coupler threads, a uniform pressure on thread ridges, and a high bearing capacity.
