Abstract:
The present invention provides a fouling prevention ability-imparting agent which has good adhesion to various water treatment membranes including a reverse osmosis membrane and can impart an excellent fouling prevention ability. The present invention relates to a fouling prevention ability-imparting agent characterized by comprising a copolymer having a structural unit (I) represented by general formula (1) (wherein R1 represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; R2 represents a direct bond, -CH2-, -CH2CH2- or -CO-; R3's may be the same as or different from each other and independently represent an alkylene group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms; X represents -CH2CH(OH)CH2(OH) or -CH(-CH2OH)2; and n represents the number of moles of oxyalkylene groups added and represents a numerical value of 0 to 100) and a structural unit (II) represented by general formula (2) (wherein R4 represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; R5 represents a direct bond, -CH2-, -CH2CH2- or -CO-; R6's may be the same as or different from each other and independently represent an alkylene group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms; R7 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms; and m represents the number of moles of oxyalkylene groups added and represents a numerical value of 1 to 100).
