Abstract:

This foil bearing is provided with an outer member (11) and foils (13) which are mounted to the inner peripheral surface (11a) of the outer member (11) and which radially directly face the inner peripheral surface (11a) of the outer member (11) without other members (such as back foils) provided therebetween. Each of the foils (13) comprises: holding sections (13a, 13b) provided at both circumferential ends of the foil (13) and held while being in contact with the outer member (11); and a body section (13c) provided circumferentially between the holding sections (13a, 13b) and having a bearing surface (A). At least one circumferential end of the body section (13c) rises from the inner peripheral surface (11a) of the outer member (11) toward the inner diameter side.
