Abstract:
Provided is a flux that is used in an electro-slag remelting process, the flux comprising a mixture of particles containing a CaF2 component and particles containing an Al2O3 component and a CaO component, and the flux having a W value of 0.05% by mass or less and a ΔW value of 0.03% by mass or less wherein W represents an initial water content in the flux which is determined by a Karl Fischer's method and ΔW represents a change in water content in the flux when the flux is placed under an environment of 30°C and 85% RH for 14 days.
