Abstract:
Provided is a fluorescent substance which has excellent chemical stability and has an oxide that shifts the surface electrification characteristics of the fluorescent substance to the positive side and which deteriorates little in luminance. The fluorescent substance comprises a fluorescent-substance base and a composite oxide disposed on at least some of the surface of the fluorescent-substance base, the composite oxide comprising M (M is at least one element selected from a group consisting of Ca, Sr, and Ba), Sn, and O.
