Abstract:

A cupped flexible external gear (3) of a cupped undulatory gearing (1) is provided with a barrel (31), a diaphragm (32) and a boss (33), wherein the shaft length L(31) of the barrel (31) is within the range of about 15/100 to about 25/100 of the pitch circle diameter D(P) of external teeth (34). The length L(35) of the barrel (31) in the axial direction in the parts other than the part where the external teeth (34) are formed is smaller than the width L(32) of the diaphragm (32) in the radial direction. Such an ultra-flat wave gearing of this configuration has improved rigidity, damping capacity and tooth accuracy without impairing its advantages of lightweightness and compactness, thereby reducing vibration.
