Abstract:

A fixed constant velocity universal joint comprising a cup-shaped outer joint member 12 and an inner joint member 13 which is accommodated within the outer joint member 12 and which transmits torque between the inner joint member 13 and the outer joint member 12 through balls 14 while permitting angular displacement, the inner joint member 13 having a hollow shaft 16 joined thereto in a torque transmittable manner, wherein the outer joint member 12 has a threaded hole 29 formed in the axial direction in the bottom 19 thereof, a recessed hole 24 is formed open to the end of the hollow shaft 16 which faces the threaded hole 29, a plug 30 engaging the threaded hole 29 is press-fitted in the recessed hole 24, and the plug 30 is adapted to be retractable in the press-fit direction relative to the hollow shaft 16.
