Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to detect magnetic material-containing extraneous objects in as small amounts as possible and as accurately as possible. The present invention relates to an extraneous object detection device in which a first yoke part and a second yoke part are respectively disposed adjacent to a permanent magnet and positioned with a reference space created therebetween. Furthermore, a bypass yoke part is disposed so as to be spaced apart from the first yoke part across a first bypass space different from the reference space and also to be spaced apart from a prescribed site of the second yoke part across a second bypass space, and the first bypass space has a magnetic reluctance less than that of the prescribed reference space, while the magnetic reluctance of the second bypass space and the first bypass space is greater than that of the prescribed reference space. Moreover, on the basis of a magnetic flux density in the reference space and/or the first bypass space which density corresponds to an amount of extraneous objects stored in a storage part provided within the second bypass space, a detection signal relating to said extraneous objects is outputted.
