Abstract:
Provided is an exhaust gas purification catalyst with which phosphorus poisoning is minimized and long-term durability is improved. The exhaust gas purification catalyst is provided with a phosphorus collection layer and a catalyst layer containing at least one type of precious metal element Mp selected from the group consisting of Pt, Pd, and Rh. The phosphorus collection layer is positioned on the upper layer side and/or the upstream side of the catalyst layer. The phosphorus collection layer contains a composite oxide having a cubic spinel structure belonging to the space group Fd-3m and containing Al and an alkali earth metal element Ma that includes Mg and that may include at least one element selected from the group consisting of Ca, Sr, and Ba. The Ma/Mg molar ratio of the composite oxide is in the range of 0.02 to 0.60 inclusive. The X-ray diffraction spectrum of the composite oxide has a peak deriving from the cubic spinel structure belonging to the space group Fd-3m of the composite oxide, between diffraction angle 2θxM a O, which is the position of a peak deriving from the alkali earth metal oxide MaO, and diffraction angle 2θxAl2O3, which is the position of a peak deriving from the aluminum oxide Al2O3.
