Abstract:
An engine equipped with a fuel pump (16), a common rail (120), four injectors (15, 15, 15, 15), a pressure sensor (12), and a pump control device (21). The pump control device (21) has a rail pressure increase control unit (212) and a pressure reduction determination unit (213). The pressure sensor (12) detects the rail pressure within the common rail (120). When the pressure reduction determination unit (213) determines that a pressure reduction (wherein the rail pressure is lower than a predetermined first set value) has continued for longer than a predetermined first amount of time, the rail pressure increase control unit (212) controls the amount of fuel supplied to the common rail (120) from the fuel pump (16), such that the rail pressure meets or exceeds the first set value.
