Abstract:
Provided are an endoscope system that makes it possible for a user to visually confirm spatial change in an index value indicating the state of a living body, and a method for operating the endoscope system. The endoscope system (10) comprises an endoscope (12) whereby an image signal is generated and a processor. The processor sets a plurality of regions of interest (212a), regions of interest (212b), and regions of interest (212c) in an endoscope image, stores the positions of the regions of interest as region position information, uses an imaging signal in a region of interest as a basis to calculate, for each region of interest, region index values which are a living body index value and a statistical value regarding the living body index value, generates an index value display table (261) in which the plurality of region index values are collected, and performs control for displaying a display image (271) in which the endoscope image, the index value display table, and a plurality of pieces of region position information are displayed.
