Abstract:
An end mill (1) comprises a cutting edge portion (3) and a shank (2) that are rotated around a central axis (O). The end mill (1) includes a bottom edge (11) located on the tip-end face of the cutting edge portion (10), and a peripheral cutting edge (13) located on the peripheral face of the cutting edge portion (10). The bottom edge (11) includes a bottom edge peripheral portion (11a) that extends closer to the shank at an inclination angle (α) of less than or equal to 3° with respect to a plane orthogonal to the central axis (O), from the peripheral end of the bottom edge toward the inside in the radial direction. The clearance angle of a bottom edge peripheral portion first clearance face (14a) adjacent to the bottom edge peripheral portion (11a) is greater than the clearance angle of the peripheral cutting edge first clearance face (14a) adjacent to the peripheral cutting edge (13). The width (W2) of the bottom edge peripheral portion first clearance face is greater than the width (W1) of the peripheral cutting edge first clearance face.
