Title:
ELECTROMAGNETIC SPRING CLUTCH
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1988/005876
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
An electromagnetic spring clutch provided with an armature (40) which can be moved to and fro along the axis thereof and cannot be turned around this axis, and which is urged by an urging means (46), and a coiled spring (36) extending around the parts of the outer circumferential surfaces of a driving shaft (30) and a driven shaft (34) and capable of being wound tightly in the rotational direction of the driving shaft (30). When an electromagnetic coil (20) is not energized, a projection (44a) at the free end of the armature (40) and a hook (38) of the coiled spring (36) are engaged to increase the diameter of the coiled spring (36) and disconnect the driving and driven shafts (30), (34). When the electromagnetic coil (20) is energized to attract the armature (40) thereto against the force of the urging means (46), the projection (44a) and hook (38) are disengaged to reduce the diameter of the coiled spring (36) and connect the driving and driven shafts (30), (34), whereby a predetermined angle of rotation of the driving shaft (30) is transmitted to the driven shaft (34).
