An electromagnetic-operation-type switching device has: a main circuit switching unit that has a blocking unit; an operating mechanism unit that has a movable iron core, a fixed iron core, and a coil; and a link mechanism unit that links the main circuit switching unit and the operating mechanism unit, a portion of the fixed iron core of the operating mechanism unit being a plate section that surrounds the operating mechanism unit.
