Abstract:
An electrically tunable metasurface (300) and a method for modulating propagation characteristics of an incident plane wave (502,504) are disclosed. The electrically tunable metasurface (300) comprises: i) a plurality of scatterer rings (302), each one of the plurality of scatterer rings (302) including bow-tie radiator elements (304), the bow-tie radiator elements (304) in a corresponding scatterer ring (302) having a same geometric configuration; and ii) a plurality of electrodes (310,314), each electrode (310,314) being configured to provide a biasing voltage (V1,V2) to the corresponding scatterer ring (302). The method comprises: i) receiving, by an electrically tunable metasurface (300), the incident plane wave (502,504); and ii) modulating the propagation characteristics of the incident plane wave (502,504) by providing specific biasing voltage (V1,V2) to the corresponding scatterer rings (302).
