Abstract:
A electric power converter (1) comprises: transistors (Q11, Q12); a converter control unit (10) that outputs a gate pulse to control the transistors (Q11, Q12); a function safety control unit (20) that turns on and outputs a gate drive permission signal when health of a gate interruption function is not determined; an interruption circuit (31) that outputs a result of a logical AND operation on the gate pulse and the gate permission signal as a drive signal; a gate drive circuit (41) that outputs a gate signal on the basis of the drive signal; and a current detection unit (61) that detects the current flowing in a phase that includes the transistors (Q11, Q12) and outputs a current value, wherein the function safety control unit (20) confirms that the gate signal has changed to ON in a period in which no current flows through the transistors (Q11, Q12) on the basis of the current value and the gate signal and then temporarily turns off the gate drive permission signal within a period in which the gate pulse is ON and determines whether or not the gate signal has changed to OFF.
