The purpose of the present invention is to provide an electric motor system that can inhibit a reduction in cooling performance caused by mixing of bubbles (air) into a refrigerant. A electric motor system 100 according to the present invention comprises: a gear 134; a first surface 155 that receives oil scraped up in conjunction with rotation of the gear 134; a second surface 153 that is positioned vertically downward with respect to the first surface 155, faces the first surface 155 at a position overlapping with the first surface 155 in the vertical direction, receives oil dripped from the first surface 155, and receives oil scraped up in conjunction with rotation of the gear 134; and a recess 151 that is positioned vertically downward with respect to the second surface 153, and into which flows the oil received by the second surface 153. Both ends of the second surface 153 in the horizontal direction perpendicular to the vertical direction and perpendicular to the axial center of the gear 134 are positioned inward of both ends of the recess 151 in the horizontal direction.
