Abstract:
An electric motor system (10) comprises: a first thrust magnetic bearing part (50A) and a second thrust magnetic bearing part (50B); an electric motor (20) placed between the two bearing parts; and a detection part (70) that detects the axial direction position of a drive shaft (19). An external force larger in a first direction (X1) than in a second direction (X2) acts on the drive shaft. The first bearing part applies, to the drive shaft, an electromagnetic force (F1) in the first direction. The second bearing part applies, to the drive shaft, an electromagnetic force (F2) in the second direction. The electromagnetic force of the second bearing part is greater than the electromagnetic force of the first bearing part. The detection part is placed closer to the second bearing part than to the first bearing part.
