Abstract:
A control unit (160) turns off the three switching elements of the upper arms of an inverter 120 and turns on the three switching elements of the lower arms thereof, thereby setting the three-phase AC voltage output from the inverter (120) to zero and then causing mechanical switches (131, 132, 133) to switch the connection states. The control unit (160) estimates the position of a rotor of an electric motor (1) from a period in which a current value larger than zero is detected in a time sequence of a plurality of current values detected by a current detection unit (140) when periodically repeating turning on and off of one switching element from among the three switching elements of the lower arms of the inverter 120 after the switching of the connection states, and executes position sensorless control on the basis of the detected current value and the estimated position.
