Abstract:
This electric actuator is provided with: a drive unit; a converting mechanism configured to convert a rotating motion from the drive unit into a linear motion; a transmission mechanism configured to transmit a driving force from the drive unit to the converting mechanism; a braking mechanism configured to prevent the converting mechanism from being moved by an external force; and a control device which controls the drive unit and the braking mechanism. The converting mechanism includes a shaft member for outputting the linear motion to the outside. The control device performs first control (step S116) for controlling the braking mechanism to prevent the converting mechanism from moving, and then performs second control (step S121) for rotating the drive unit. During the second control, if the shaft member moves, the control device determines (step S122) that the braking mechanism is abnormal. Thus, normal activation of the braking mechanism can be determined more accurately.
