An electric actuator with shock absorbing mechanism (10) is provided that is an electric actuator which compared to a hydraulic oil cylinder device can easily be configured to be lightweight and compact, can be used in place of a hydraulic oil cylinder device while being freely extendable when an impact load is suddenly applied, and converts the rotation of an electric motor to back and forth motion of an output rod (9) using a screw shaft (16) and a nut member (20) assembled therewith. The output rod (9) has: a drive cylinder (21) that is disposed around the perimeter of the screw shaft (16) and has the nut member (20) attached; and a movable cylinder (12) that is disposed around the perimeter of the screw shaft (16) over the drive cylinder (21) and freely movable back and forth with respect to the drive cylinder (21). Furthermore, provided between the drive cylinder (21) and the movable cylinder (12) is a release mechanism (30) that engages the movable cylinder (12) to the drive cylinder (21), and if an axial force equal to or greater than a predetermined amount is applied to the movable cylinder (12), allows movement of the movable cylinder (12) with respect to the drive cylinder (21).
