Abstract:
The purpose of this invention is to provide a drive unit capable of improving an appearance of an electric bicycle and an electric bicycle having the improved appearance. A drive unit (4) according to this invention comprises a motor (43) which generates a driving force for moving forward an electric bicycle (1) and a drive circuit (42) which drives the motor (43). The motor (43) and the drive circuit (42) are arranged in a down tube (23) so as to be fit within a projection area of a cross section of the down tube (23), the down tube (23) connecting a head tube (21) and a bottom bracket shell (27) of the electric bicycle (1) with each other.
