Title:
DRIVE UNIT AND ELECTRIC-ASSIST BICYCLE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2017/010068
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to reduce the load on a motor and a rider by performing a shifting operation in a favorable manner in a drive unit provided in an electric-assist bicycle. A drive unit (20) is equipped with a resultant force vehicle (29) capable of rotating as a result of the resultant force obtained by synthesizing a human-powered drive force and an auxiliary drive force, and further equipped with a shifting mechanism (17) that transmits drive force to the resultant force vehicle (29) and has a plurality of selectable gears. The shifting mechanism (17) is equipped with a high-speed clutch (55) capable of transmitting the drive force from a high-speed gear (41) to the resultant force vehicle (29), and a clutch switch (61) that moves according to the selected gear and is capable of engaging the high-speed clutch (55) and disengaging therefrom. Further provided are force-imparting mechanisms (61d, 61f, 61g) for imparting force to the high-speed clutch (55) from the clutch switch (61) in a manner such that the high-speed clutch (55) transitions from a state of connection to the resultant force vehicle (29) to a state of disconnection therefrom, when the clutch switch (61) contacts the high-speed clutch (55).
