Abstract:
Provided is a double-layer-coated aluminum base material which is suitable for use as members such as engine members that are required to have heat-insulating performance and which has sufficient heat-insulating performance, and in which the coating has excellent adhesion of the base constituted of aluminum or an aluminum alloy.
The double-layer-coated aluminum base material is obtained by successively forming an alumite layer and a ceramic layer on a base constituted of aluminum or an aluminum alloy, and is characterized in that the alumite layer has, formed therein, a plurality of cracks extending to the base surface and that the ceramic layer has penetrated into the cracks to a position in the range of 50% or greater but less than 100% of the depth of the cracks.
