Abstract:

Provided is a disposable endoscope comprising an optical transmitter in a cylindrical sheath having an outer diameter of no more than 20 mm, wherein: the optical transmitter includes a rod-shaped plastic gradient-index lens and a connector that is detachably connected to a detection unit at the proximal end of the plastic gradient-index lens; and the optical transmitter transmits light received at the distal end thereof to the detection unit, thereby generating an image at the detection unit. The disposable endoscope is disposable and makes it possible to obtain high resolution images despite the use of an inexpensive material that has a narrow diameter.
