Abstract:
Provided is a differential limiter device for four-wheel drive vehicles that eliminates the need for serration or spline processing on an axle shaft, and that enables processing cost reduction. A slide member (50) is movable in two steps toward an outer ring (31), wherein switching to four-wheel drive state is performed by engaging a bi-directional clutch (30) by a first-step movement. By a second-step movement, spline teeth (54a, 54b) are meshed with spline teeth (55, 56) formed on an inner periphery of a guide cylinder (20) and on an outer periphery of an intermediate shaft (28), whereby a differential (9) is locked so as to transmit rotation of the differential (9) from the intermediate shaft (28) to an axle shaft (11b) while eliminating the need for transmission of torque from the slide member (50) to the axle shaft (11b).
