Abstract:
This case for a differential gear set is provided with: a carrier (3) that is rotatable about an axis, supports the differential gear set, and is provided with a fitting surface forming a cylindrical surface about the axis, and a flange that protrudes from the fitting surface in the axial direction and has an abutting surface along the axial direction; a cover (5) that, combined with the carrier, defines a chamber for accommodating the differential gear set and is provided with an edge section that protrudes in the axial direction to fit on the outer periphery of the flange and is dimensioned so as to align an end surface thereof with the abutting surface in the axial direction; a ring gear that is provided with an inner peripheral surface that fits in the fitting surface, a rear surface that at least partially abuts with the abutting surface, and gear teeth which accept the torque around the axis, and is dimensioned to hold an annular groove between the abutting surface and the end surface; and a weld metal (15W) that fills in the groove and integrally joins the carrier, the cover, and the ring gear.
