Abstract:
The invention relates to a device for preventing damage to pipe fittings and all types of vessels from the expansion of water or any water-based solutions upon freezing. The device is a form of pipe fitting comprising a shut-off or control gate and a seat. The gate moves relative to the seat under the effect of a magnetic field. The magnetic field parameters that cause the shut-off or control element to move are changed by the manual movement of one or more magnets contained in the device and constituting part of a magnetic circuit and/or as a result of a temperature-induced change in the magnetic properties of parts contained in the device. Parts having magnetic properties that change under the effect of temperature are also part of the magnetic circuit, and a change in their magnetic properties also leads to a change in the parameters of the magnetic circuit, causing the gate to move relative to the seat. A part which changes the parameters of the magnetic circuit, causing the gate to move relative to the seat, is completely or partially made of a material having a Curie point in a range of from -5ºС to +5ºС.
