The present invention relates to a device for automatically opening and closing a loading compartment cover of a freight vehicle, which is a device for opening and closing a cover covering cargo loaded in a loading compartment of a freight vehicle including a front plate, a rear plate, and both side plates, the device comprising: a pair of fixed pulleys respectively installed on the rear upper portions of the both side plates; a cable wound on a fixed pulley on one side of the side plates and wound on a fixed pulley on the other side via an opening and closing driving means formed on the front plate; a plurality of sliders which are respectively seated on the upper sides of the both side plates, constrained while the cable passes therethrough, and reciprocally slid along the longitudinal direction of the side plates; cover ribs which are respectively coupled to the sliders having both ends facing each other and surround an upper portion of the loading compartment; and the opening and closing driving means, installed on the front plate, for transporting the cable in a forward direction or a reverse direction to reciprocate the sliders, thereby driving each cover rib to unfold or fold, wherein the cable is engaged with a slider positioned at the rear end.
