Abstract:
A compression device performs: a process in which, if a symbol that has been input is not registered in a first table having a plurality of entries, the symbol is registered in a predetermined entry among the plurality of entries, and indicator data indicating non-compression and the symbol are output; a process in which, if the symbol is registered in the table, indicator data indicating compression and position information are output, the position information indicating the position of an entry in which the symbol is registered and having a size smaller than that of the symbol; and a process in which the size of the position information is changed in accordance with the status of use of the plurality of entries.
