Abstract:
This damper (D) is provided with: a cylinder (1); a piston (2) that is inserted into the cylinder and partitions the interior of the cylinder (1) into an extension-side chamber (La) and a pressure-side chamber (Lb); a piston rod (3) that is coupled to the piston (2); a damping passage (3a) that is disposed in the piston rod (3) and communicates between the extension-side chamber (La) and the pressure-side chamber (Lb); and a damping force adjustment valve (V) that is accommodated in an accommodation section (H) disposed in the piston rod (3), and that is provided in the damping passage (3a). The accommodation section (H) includes a maximum contour section (W) partway along in the axial direction and a bypass passage (DP) that opens from the non-piston side beyond the maximum contour section (W) and passes to the piston side beyond the maximum contour section (W) without passing through the damping force adjustment valve (V).
