Abstract:
This cylinder device includes a piston rod having a piston, a first electrode which constitutes an inner tube and into which the piston rod is inserted, a second electrode which constitutes an outer tube and which is provided in such a way as to face an outer circumferential surface of the first electrode, a base shell in which the first electrode and the second electrode are accommodated, an electrorheological fluid filling the inside of the base shell, and a voltage applying unit for applying a voltage between the first electrode and the second electrode, wherein an outer surface insulating layer is provided on an outer circumferential surface of the second electrode. As a result, accumulation of particles in a region in which the speed of the electrorheological fluid filling the cylinder device is low can be prevented, and a deterioration in the attenuation characteristics of the cylinder device can be suppressed.
