Abstract:
To provide: a cyclic olefin copolymer that is a copolymer of a cyclic olefin monomer and an α-olefin having 3-20 carbon atoms, the copolymer having excellent tensile strength and breaking strain; and a production method of a cyclic olefin copolymer, the method being capable of satisfactorily producing the cyclic olefin copolymer. Provided is a copolymer of a cyclic olefin monomer and an α-olefin having 3-20 carbon atoms, wherein the amount of a structural unit derived from the α-olefin is 10 mol% to 50 mol% inclusive relative to the whole structural unit, the average value of relaxation times corresponding to each hydrogen of the cyclic olefin copolymer in the hydrogen nucleus relaxation times T1ρ by solid NMR measurement for the cyclic olefin copolymer is within the range of 4.5-5.5 msec, and the difference between the maximum value and the minimum value of the relaxation times is within the range of 1.0-3.0 msec.
