Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a cruise control system which imposes a certain load on a driving operation to prevent a decrease in judgment and also increases fuel efficiency by suitably allowing inertial travel in situations where the inertial travel less likely influence maintaining a target speed. [Solution] A control unit (14) of a vehicle (10) generates a control signal on the basis of a throttle opening signal related to a throttle opening outputted to an in-vehicle communication network (14a) in response to an accelerator pedal being operated. When the accelerator pedal is maintained at a prescribed position for a prescribed time, the control unit switches a travel mode of the vehicle from a normal mode to a cruise mode. Furthermore, when the accelerator pedal is released, the control unit switches the travel mode from the cruse mode to an inertial cruise mode that cuts off rotational power on a drivetrain and allows the vehicle to travel by inertia. By switching the travel mode in response to the accelerator pedal being operated in this way, the decrease in judgment can be prevented and the fuel efficiency can be increased.
