Abstract:
A method for manufacturing glass includes a forming step of forming a glass ribbon from molten glass with a glass forming means, and a conveyance step of conveying the glass ribbon with conveyance rolls while gradually cooling the glass ribbon to or below the strain temperature of glass. The conveyance step includes a buffer layer forming step of directly spraying an inorganic salt solution on the surface of the conveyance rolls and drying the solution deposited on the conveyance rolls to form a buffer layer of inorganic salt with a Vickers hardness of 30 or more.
