Abstract:
In order to reduce the capacity of a low-speed-side clutch in a continuously variable transmission, this continuously variable transmission (1) is equipped with: an input shaft (2) to which driving power is transmitted from a drive source; an intermediate shaft (4) arranged parallel to the input shaft (2); a toroidal continuously variable transmission mechanism (5) arranged on the input shaft (2); and a planetary gear mechanism (7), a low-speed-side clutch (92), and a high-speed-side clutch (91), which are arranged on the intermediate shaft (4). The low-speed-side clutch (92) is constructed so as to be capable of switching between an engaged state, wherein a sun gear (71) and a second driven gear (81) rotate integrally, and a disengaged state, wherein this engagement is released.
