Abstract:
A continuously variable transmission capable of operating without slippage even if a friction coefficient is reduced in low surface pressure, high temperature operating conditions. The continuously variable transmission has a first shaft (12) rotatably supported by a housing (10), a second shaft (36) rotatably supported by the housing (10), a V-pulley (16) having a variable groove width and supported by the first shaft (12), a ring (30) in contact with the V-pulley (16) at both surfaces of the ring and is supported by the V-pulley, and a guide plate (40) for moving the ring (30) around the second shaft (36), in the direction in which the ring (30) is pressed to the V-pulley (16). The transmission has a mechanism for increasing pressing force produced by the guide plate (40), and the mechanism increases contact loads on contact sections in an operating condition in which a friction coefficient reduces.
